Horace Giambona, 64, died in the crash on Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Brick Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the wreck at the intersection of Brick and Yorktowne boulevards at around 2:34 p.m.

Investigators said Giambona was traveling north on Brick Boulevard and approached the intersection. A 2013 Dodge Ram stopped in the intersection to allow an ambulance with its lights and siren activated to pass through the intersection.

Giambona tried to stop before the intersection but his motorcycle went into a skid. He laid the motorcycle on its ride side and he was ejected.

Giambona hit the left rear side of the pickup and the motorcycle continued to slide before coming to a stop just north of the intersection. He was rushed to Jersey Shore Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the Neptune hospital.

The northbound side of Brick Boulevard was closed and traffic was detoured for about two hours.

Anyone with information about the crash should call Brick Township police at 732-451-2037.
